Jennifer Carpenter may be done with Dexter, but she's not giving up the badge for her new TV show, Sea of Fire.
Carpenter, who played Det. Deb Morgan on the hit Showtime series for eight seasons, will headline ABC's Sea of Fire pilot, E! News has confirmed. It's an ABC pilot, so don't expect as any trademark F-bombs from the actress.
Carpenter will play FBI Agent Leah Pierce, described as a driven and "blunt" woman with a secret past, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The drama centers on three teen girls who star in a porn that sends ripples through their families. The result? A disappearance, murder and more. Carpenter's character comes to town to investigate the disappearance. Think Twin Peaks-ish.
Scandal‘s Jenna Bans wrote the pilot script and will serve as executive producer. The drama is based on the Dutch series Vuurzee. Other executive producers include Rob Golenberg, Laurie Zaks, Alon Aranya, David Hoberman, Todd Lieberman, Robert Kievit, and Frank Ketelaar. The official logline:
"When three teenage girls in a small town star in an illicit film, it tears their families apart and leads to a disappearance, a murder and a host of other secrets boiling under the surface of a close-knit community."
The Hollywood Reporter and TVLine were the first to report Carpenter's casting. The pilot will shoot in Vancouver.
