After months of endless rumors, Lena Dunham has finally landed her Vogue cover.
The 27-year-old Girls creator graces the high-fashion magazine's February issue, starring as the "New Queen of Comedy" as she flaunts both her beauty and her quirky side that we've all come to love.
The highly anticipated cover—shot by acclaimed photographer Annie Leibovitz—features the funnygal, who plays Hannah Horvath on the hit HBO series, in a Burberry Prorsum shirt from the Spring/Summer 2014 collection, tugging on her collar with her right hand as she grips her temple with the other while wearing an anxious expression on her face.
The brunette beauty's signature pixie is styled straight and brushed to the side, making her smoky eyes pop as she sports heavy eyeliner, dark eyeshadow and soft red lips to complete her edgy, yet charming beauty look.
Another inside shot shows Dunham sprawled on a bed with costar Adam Driver, as she wears a high-fashion gown with mermaid sequins on the bodice and a painting of a woman's face on the lower half. She strikes a sexy pose as she lies in the unmade bed with Driver and her dog in the pic which perfectly captures the essence of the Golden Globe winner's hit show.
In the accompanying interview, the Tiny Furniture star opens up about the surprisingly honest depiction of sex on the show (Dunham has repeatedly defended the nudity on Girls), admitting she wants to provide an accurate portrayal for viewers:
"There was a sense that I and many women I knew had been led astray by Hollywood and television depictions of sexuality," she said. "Seeing somebody who looks like you having sex on television is a less comfortable experience than seeing somebody who looks like nobody you've ever met."
And she also defended her sex scenes with a much older, handsome doctor (played by Patrick Wilson) in season two after critics called their relationship unrealistic.
"Critics said, 'That guy wouldn't date that girl!'" she recalled. "It's like, 'Have you been out on the street lately?' Everyone dates everyone, for lots of reasons we can't understand. Sexuality isn't a perfect puzzle, like, 'He has a nice nose and she has a nice nose! She's got great breasts and he's got great calves! And so they're going to live happily ever after in a house that was purchased with their modeling money!' It's a complicated thing. I want people ultimately, even if they're disturbed by certain moments, to feel bolstered and normalized by the sex that's on the show."
Despite baring it all on the boob tube, Dunham lives a private life in NYC, sharing an apartment with her boyfriend, fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff, and admits that despite her rapid climb to success, she still doesn't see a place for herself in Hollywood.
"I went early on to a party at a really famous person's house," she recalled, confessing she still feels like an outsider in Tinsel Town. "They had a private chef there making pizza, and I remember the dog was wearing a bow tie. Every time I looked around, it would be like, Is that someone I know from camp? No, that's Ashton Kutcher. It was such a weird scene. I remember thinking, I don't feel at home here, and no matter how long this is my job, I will never feel at home here. And if I do start to feel at home here...someone should really worry about me."
Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour who supported Dunham at the season-three premiere of Girls last week, is also making fashionable headlines. The editor who has been a longtime supporter of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's fabled Costume Institute and has hosted the annual Costume Gala at the venue, is being honored when the Institute reopens in May—it will be renamed the Anna Wintour Costume Center. "Anna is humbled and thrilled by this honor. She is focused on the work ahead and is excited about the future of the Costume Center—particularly its highly anticipated reopening and this spring's exhibition on Charles James." Hildy Kuryk, Vogue's Director of Communications said to E! News in statement.
