Michael Douglas has been a Hollywood mainstay since the '70s, but the actor doesn't feel as though he's received adequate praise for all of his hard work.

"Well, I've always felt a little underestimated, personally," Douglas explained in a recent interview with GQ magazine. "I've got a pretty good batting average over forty years. Sometimes maybe it looked easy."

But to be fair, the publication gave Douglas the high honor of Diva of the Year...which seems fairly fitting.

The A-lister received tons of critical acclaim for her heart-wrenching portrayal of Liberace in HBO's Behind the Candelabra and even earned an Emmy Award.

But getting the star-studded film to TV was no simple feat. Douglas shared that he's thrilled by the movie's success, especially after major studios turned the project down.

"I'm actually taking sort of joy, a revengeful joy, in the fact that all the studios turned it down. To me it was just a reflection of how constipated and conservative the studios have become."

And it seems like no interview with Douglas these days can go without a question about the status of his marriage to Catherine Zeta-Jones.

The 69-year-old, who has been open about their reconciliation efforts in the recent past, told the magazine, "I hope to resolve my marriage in a positive fashion."

He didn't elaborate any further on the matter, but he did share on a recent guest appearance on Live With Kelly and Michael that they spent Halloween together with their two children, Dylan and Carys—a clear indicator that the two stars are working hard at their 12-year union.

Last month, Douglas told E! News he's "doing great" and things are looking "onwards and upwards" with Zeta-Jones.

Douglas and Zeta-Jones announced their split back in August. A rep for the 44-year-old actress said at the time, "Catherine and Michael are taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage."
