The Red singer was spotted visiting the Madison Square Park Shake Shack in New York City yesterday afternoon alongside 16-year-old singer-songwriter Lorde, E! News confirms.
An eyewitness shared a photo of the pair on Twitter, and tells us that the two stars "seemed like they had been friends for a long time," adding, "They seemed so close, like they were roommates or school mates."
The insider also tells E! News that T.Swift and Lorde, who each enjoyed a shake and some fries, "were giggling and talking to each other" while sitting on a park bench. Bodyguards patrolled the area during their lunch date, and when it came time to foot the bill, "Taylor looked to the bodyguards for money, and then the bodyguards pointed at Lorde who started digging money out of her pockets and paid."
There's no word as to what the two chatted about during their lengthy meeting, but there are a number of topics that may have been mentioned—boys (obvs), fashion, music or even being a part of The Hunger Games franchise.
As we all know by now, Taylor sang two hits, "Safe and Sound" and "Eyes Open," for the adaptation's first film, and now Lorde is featured on Catching Fire's soundtrack.
The 16-year-old "Royals" singer covers the 1985 Tears for Fears' hit "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" for the film, which hits theaters Nov. 22, and her amazing rendition of the track even caught the attention of the band's frontman Curt Smith.
"I think it's absolutely amazing," he said in an interview with MTV Hive. "But then I love her, I think she's brilliant. We love it when other people cover our stuff. Sometimes we steal them and use their version live."
