Orlando Bloom has been nothing if not outwardly positive regarding his separation from Miranda Kerr.
"We love each other, we're a family," the British actor told Katie Couric during an interview airing Friday on Katie.
"We're going to be in each other's lives for the rest of our lives. There's no question for the sake of our son and everything else, we're going to support one another and love each other as parents to Flynn."
Reps for the handsome pair, who were together for three years before tying the knot in 2010, confirmed first to E! News last week that Bloom and Kerr had "amicably separated" a few months beforehand.
Their relentlessly adorable son, Flynn, is 2 1/2.
"And you know," Bloom went on, "life doesn't always works out exactly as we plan or hope for but fortunately we're both... we're adults. We love and care about each other and we, most of all, love our son."
On Instagram today, Kerr posted a photo of herself dressed as a sexy cat (well, maybe just a normal cat, but the Victoria's Secret model can't help but be sexy) and Flynn looking extra-adorable as a wee Superman.
The whole family was out together in New York City, where Bloom is starring on Broadway in Romeo and Juliet, on Monday, Flynn clutching a little pumpkin bucket that's probably filled with Halloween candy by now.

Bloom has been his usual charming self in public since the split was announced, amiably letting a paparazzo engage him in small talk and then looking perfectly at ease on The Colbert Report on Tuesday.
"Let's talk elephant in the room, you've got something going on with you right now, we don't have to talk about it," Colbert said, touching lightly on his guest's breakup, not going so far as to offer him ice cream. "If you want to talk about it you let me know, OK?"
The host added: "All I'm going to say is there are a lot of fish in the sea. You're a good looking guy."
"Thank you," Bloom humbly replied.
