Talk about plum perfection!

Michelle Obama made for a pretty chic church lady when she attended services at Saint John's Church in Washington D.C. along with the first family on Sunday.

The fab first lady stepped out in a rich purple colored Azzedine Alaïa dress decorated with a delicate eyelet pattern and a feminine scallop-edged skirt.

Her pretty purple frock was perfectly in keeping with the regal plum jewel tones we spied on fall 2013 runways, including the colorful looks at Stella McCartney and Ralph Lauren's recent shows.

But Mrs. O's dress didn't come from the latest Alaïa collection. On the contrary, we first spotted the first lady wearing this vibrant number back in 2009!

Yep, one year into her hubby's first term as president, Michelle wore the gorgeous plum dress for an appearance on Oprah's special telecast, Christmas at the White House. Back then she wore the design with politically correct strands of pearls that were very Jackie O.

This time around, Michelle was a bit more fashion forward, pairing the oldie but goodie with super on-trend over-the-knee boots—as in the kind that models like Chrissy Teigen are embracing this fall.

If anyone can make a case for shopping one's own closet, it's definitely Michelle, who proves that a four-year-old design can be right on trend—especially when coupled with the right accessories!
