There were plenty of head-turning moments at last night's BET awards and a lot of those happened before the show even started.
Summer whites dominated the red carpet with stars such as Michelle Williams, Omarosa Manigault and Tatyana Ali all donning ivory frocks. Janelle Monáe and Mya also wore the bright hue, but in the form of pants ensembles.
On the other end of the style spectrum, Angela Simmons hosted the pre-show in a frosty, embellished Vivan Tan frock complete with cone bra detailing which seemed straight out of Lady Gaga's closet (see below).
The two real bright spots on the carpet were Gabrielle Union and Jordin Sparks. The singer looked effortlessly on-trend in a printed Clover Canyon mini with white pumps. While Union kept things simple in a red strapless cocktail dress by Zac Posen that emphasized her curves.
There were also a pair of dramatically different but equally stunning LBDs. Nicki Minaji continued her subtle streak in a gorgeous Roberto Cavalli gown. Also wearing black, Laila Ali showed off her fit figure in an understated sheath with attention-grabbing gold and leather sandals.
Of course, there were a few outfits that caused us to scratch our heads. Take Megan Good's plunging, nipple-exposing gown with added thigh high slit, leaving little to the imagination. Also showing a lot of skin? Ciara. The singer hit the event in a Saint Laurent leather crop top and a Dominic Louis skirt, a look we're almost sure Miley Cyrus would approve of.
Kat Grahram actually did have an outfit that was Miley-approved. The Vampire Diaries actress wore a Versace mini on the same day the "We Can't Stop" singer posed in the same button-heavy dress at an event in Miami.
Finally, Amber Rose, who is known for her love of bright colors, arrived in a yellow patterned Versace frock, which seemed a bit casual for the ceremony.
Who do you think was the best and worst dressed at the 2013 BET Awards?
