Ask any attendee of the highly anticipated Met Gala, and you'll quickly learn that there's almost nothing more important than the designer gown you wear to the massive fashion affair.

Sandra Lee of Food Network's Semi-Homemade Cooking had her heart set on wearing a stunning black Vivienne Westwood design featuring a heavily-beaded bodice for this year's punk-themed event and had planned around her prized dress weeks in advance.

So why did the 46-year-old star step out in a demure black gown by Alexander McQueen? Blame it on her bird.

That's right, the on-air personality explained to the Daily Mail that her pet parrot, Phoenix, sneakily swooped inside her walk-in closet just days before the gala and destroyed her beautiful gown.

"Phoenix had severed nearly every bead, crystal and pearl from the dress. No joke," the blond beauty and girlfriend of New York governor, Andrew Cuomo, explained of the unfortunate incident.

So what's a savvy gal to do? Pluck out another fabulous frock from her closet, of course!

Lee decided on her organza McQueen dress (a versatile design she had previously worn to Elton John's birthday bash) just hours before the red carpet arrivals last Monday and made a grand night of it anyway!
