Though Lee Alexander McQueen passed away in 2010, his legacy lives on among celebrities, who continue to reach for his label's gorgeous gowns.
Known for his theatrical runway shows, his gowns were no less dramatic, making him a favorite among daring stars like Lady Gaga. But he was also a technical master (he did start working at Savile Row at the age of 16, after all), who was known for his signature razor-sharp tailoring.
His skills earned him four British Designer of the Year Awards and his label, now headed by creative director Sarah Burton, counts one of the most fashionable Brits—Kate Middleton—as a fan. Not only did the Duchess don a McQueen wedding dress, but she also wore a lovely lavender design from the fashion house for her first Hollywood red carpet event, BAFTA's Brits to Watch 2011 gala.
