Lena Dunham isn't letting Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's harsh review of Girls get to her.

"I have to admit, I only skimmed it," Dunham just told me at the DGA Awards in Hollywood. "It seemed like a mixed review and I have a policy about not reading those."

Besides, it's not like the basketball legend's work as a television critic ever crossed her mind.

Read Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's slam-dunk review of Girls

"[Abdul-Jabbar's] review of Girls was called to my attention on Twitter," Dunham said. "And I blurted out to my dad, 'Kareem Abdul-Jabbar reviewed Girls.' And he said, 'I don't even know how to process that. I don't even know what that means.'"

Abdul-Jabbar lashed out at Dunham for her casting of black actor Donald Glover as a love interest for Dunham's character Hannah because "it came across as forced" after she faced criticism for the show's lack of diversity.

He wrote on Huffington Post that "a black dildo would have sufficed and cost less."

Criticism aside, Dunham did say she could imagine the NBA Hall of Famer appearing on Girls some day.

Lena Dunham isn't a fan of Rihanna and Chris Brown together

"Kareem crushed it on New Girl," she gushed. (Abdul-Jabbar guest starred as himself on New Girl in April.) "So if we're ever in need of a Kareem type, he's definitely the first person I'd go to."
