NASA announced in a statement that the single has successfully made the 708 million mile roundtrip to Mars and back to earth, making this track the first song to be transmitted back from the Red Planet.

The 37-year-old performer took part in this experiment as a way to share findings about Mars with students.
"Today is about inspiring young people to lead a life without limits placed on their potential and to pursue collaboration between humanity and technology through STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) education," will.i.am said. "I know my purpose is to inspire young people, because they will keep inspiring me back."
