Move Over, Ashton Kutcher: Katy Perry Is New Face of Popchips

Pop star lives up to her profession, signing on as an investor, creative partner and, come this fall, the new spokeswoman for the snack food

If ever a celebrity endorsement was meant to be, surely this is it. After all, who better to endorse Popchips than a veritable pop star?

Plus, the happy-go-plucky addition of Katy Perry to the snack foods' roster of star talent can only help distance them from that whole Ashton Kutcher Bollywood-skewering, sensitivity-backfiring ad fiasco.

Er, right? Right.

So, what does Katy have to say about her new financial windfall spokesmanship?

"I was hooked after my first bite!" she gushed oh-so-naturally in the company's press release. "When I discover something good, I want to share it with everyone I know, so I tweeted about it."

Her tweet led to the company reaching out to its new celeb fan, and that, apparently, was that.

"I remember it was late at night, and I was craving a midnight snack without the guilt," she went on. "The bag stood out in the minibar, and I was pleasantly surprised when I read the back of the label and saw that it was a healthier choice. I was hooked after my first bite!"

But Katy won't be just another pretty face for the snack food company, and has also joined its ranks as both an investor and creative partner alongside Kutcher and Diddy. As for Perry's ads, while it's a safe bet that the company will go out of its way to make them as controversy-free as possible, we won't be able to see the fruits of its labor until this fall, when Katy's first spots will be released.
