"We have to establish Skechers as more than a lifestyle company," Skechers president Leonard Amato told USA Today this week, explaining that the brand is looking to establish itself as a go-to for "high-tech" footwear.

And now the story making the rounds is that Skechers, which featured Kardashian in a sexy Super Bowl commercial last year, is going in a different direction. A canine direction.

While it's true that the E! star has become a former spokeswoman for Skechers, and that a French bulldog racing a pack of greyhounds will be the pièce de résistance in this year's ad, was Kardashian really cast aside so flippantly?
