But does that mean marriage is out of the question for one of Hollywood's hottest couples?
Let's just say it doesn't sound like they're running to get hitched anytime soon.
"It's important for the people that it's important for, but neither one of us are particularly religious so I don't think that there's any particular push," Jackson told us at Montblanc's 24-Hour Plays event benefiting the Urban Arts Partnership in L.A.
"But never say never," he added.
Buzz that Jackson, 33, and Kruger, 35, were headed for the altar started after the Fringe actor recently won a $45,000 necklace that he supposedly announced was an "engagement gift" for his Inglourious Basterds star girlfriend. Jackson's reps have insisted he never said any such thing.
"I made a horrible mistake at an auction by raising my hand when I shouldn't have, and it started a bunch of rumors that were very, very costly," Jackson laughed, adding, "We're not engaged."
While a wedding may be far in the future for the couple, how does Jackson feels about starting a family?
"Kids are one of those things that kind of happen, aren't they?" he smiled to reporters. "Certainly we're working on it if that's what you're asking."
