Ryan Gosling, what have you done to your girl Eva Mendes?

The first official trailer for Lost River is here giving movie fans a sneak peek at the actor's skills behind-the-scenes. From the very first scene, the new dad gives us a glimpse inside his creative mind.

In the film, Gosling follows a single mother who is swept into a dark underworld. Meanwhile, her teenage son discovers a mysterious road that leads to an even stranger underwater town.

What instantly grabs our attention, however, is Mendes' performance as a dancer who mysteriously ends up lying on the floor.

With visible bruises left on her face, there's only thing to ask: Can you please give us more details about your real-life partner, Gosling!

Lost River, which is both directed and written by Gosling, first premiered at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. Although it was met with negative reviews, Warner Bros. announced this week that the fantasy flick will hit theatres in Los Angeles and New York on April 10.

And for those living too far away, you can still view the movie via digital platforms at the same time.

"[The] theatrical and digital release plan provides the best of both worlds," Gosling shared in a statement Tuesday. "It allows those who are interested in seeing my film in a theater to do so without excluding the majority of people who don't have access to a specialty cinema."
