Katy Perry's Grammy Prep: Singer's Glam Squad Shares Behind-the-Scenes Pics!

A lot of work went into Katy Perry's 2014 Grammys night. More than your average attendee, at least. Why? Well, the singer donned four looks, including an light-up costume for her "Dark Horse" performance.

And now that the whirlwind night is past them, the star's glam squad is sharing an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the getting-ready process.

First up? That gorgeous red carpet dress, of course!

"We love a theme so for this year's Grammy performance it was a dark look—very haunting and sexy," explains Perry's longtime pal and stylist Johnny Wujek. "For the carpet we wanted to lighten things up, so our inspiration was a white witch, very angelic, light and whimsical. We love Valentino and this dress had all of the right pieces for the Grammys—and most importantly made a statement!"

Keeping with the ethereal theme, her manicurist Kimmie Keys went with a pretty petal colored lacquer. "Katy wanted something really simple and chic to go with her red carpet dress and her performance look. We chose a light pink shade called Everbloom from the CoverGirl Outlast Nail Gloss collection. It offered just a subtle hint of color to keep the focus on her gown and flawless face."

For that, makeup artist Jake Bailey made one important change. "The fastest way to dramatically change your look is always the lips. We went from a fresh coral pink to a deep cranberry and she was instantly transformed from ethereal red carpet bombshell into a sultry witch," he shared. "The shade we chose was Euphoria from CoverGirl LipPerfection."

As for that electic outfit, Wujek says this time Katy's was going for a dark witch effect. "We wanted to go with a powerfully haunting performance, where Katy was the queen of the coven. I designed the dress based on the treatment—a rich deep purple cape with a silhouette of a horse on the back. The cross was lit by LED ropes, and I was waiting on the side lines ready to make them glow. The arms were created with black spider web and dark purple velvet. The top layer of the skirt was hand dyed and embellished with beads and chain, adding texture and movement for an overall show-stopping look."

And if that wasn't impressive enough, Katy still had two more outfit changes: another Valentino frock and a Giorgio Armani gown.
