It's raining sharks…again!

Following the monster success of its original TV movie Sharknado, Syfy has greenlighted a sequel expected to be aired in 2014, the network announced on Wednesday.

But West Coast citizens can relax, as it seems the storm patterns have shifted the tornado of sharks toward the East Coast. That's right, sharks are going to be taking a bite out of the Big Apple, aka New York City, in the highly anticipated follow-up.

Syfy is offering fans the chance to be a part of the film as they are holding a special Twitter contest to find the movie, currently titled Sharknado 2, an appropriate subtitle. The network is asking fans to tweet their suggestions to @SyfyMovies using the #Sharknado hashtag. Let the puns begin, folks!

"Every once in a while, there is a perfect storm—on television. The fans are clamoring for a sequel. Or perhaps it will be a prequel," Thomas Vitale, Executive Vice President, Programming and Original Movies, Syfy, said in a statement. "What we can guarantee is that Sharknado 2 will be lots of fun. We'll be announcing more details very soon. But we didn't want our fans to worry they wouldn't get their fill of more shark fin, I mean, fun next year."

The original film, which starred Tara Reid and Ian Ziering, pulled in 1.4 million viewers for Syfy, but created a real social media frenzy: #Sharknado was trending worldwide and registered about 5,000 tweets per minute at its peak.
