Lauren Conrad is April's Guest Editor for The Trend. Last week, she dished on shopping spring trends while on a budget, and this week, she's sharing simple ways to decorate your living space. Read on for the author and designer's exclusive tips!

There's a reason why someone thought up the phrase, "Home Sweet Home." Your home is the primary place where you live, eat, learn, love and grow. Not only should your decor reflect your personality and taste, it should present you with a space that is both stylish and comfortable. I have always loved discovering simple and inexpensive tricks for brightening up my living space, and today I'm going to share a few ways to do just that. Without further ado, here are three ways to add a special touch to your home.

1. Hang Your Frames: Don't let a blank canvas go to waste! Go ahead and hang your art and photos on the walls for a splash of life and color. And if you are noticing that your framed pieces are beginning to pile up, try making a wall collage.

2. Add Punchy Pillows: One of the easiest ways to instantly update your decor is by investing in a few new accent pillows. Whether your bed is in need of a little boost or the couch could use a makeover, throw pillows have the ability to change the entire look of the room. Opt for a colorful cluster of different shapes and sizes this spring. Chances are the change will leave you feeling inspired and refreshed.

3. Make Your Space Your Own: Like I've said before, a space that reflects your taste and personality is one that will feel livable and cozy. Make your space your own by adding unique treasures or pieces that are important to you—whether that means items you have collected while traveling, pieces you have picked up at flea markets, or vintage finds you've discovered at antique stores. You can even refurbish an old piece of furniture to put a one-of-a-kind spin on it. Always decorate your home so that it feels like you.
