We're a little more than a week away from The Dark Knight Rises swooping into theaters.
And as if our anticipation hadn't already reached a fever pitch, along comes a new 13-minute featurette to whet our appetite even more.
While it is pretty lengthy, much of what is shown has already been revealed through previously released clips and promotional spots, so there's not too much in the way of spoilers. (Unless, of course, you have purposely avoided watching said clips and promotional spots.)
The featurette also includes a ton of behind-the-scenes stuff as well as interviews with the cast and filmmakers chatting about, well, what else?
Fortunately, everyone keeps things pretty vague so as not to really ruin anything, but it all still manages to build up excitement nevertheless.
Some of the best bites:
- "It's wonderful," insists Batman himself, Christian Bale. "It kind of brings things full circle."
- "[Director] Chris [Nolan] was able to amp up the stakes for this last movie and really take it to places that I don't think anyone is expecting," notes Anne Hathaway, who plays Catwoman/Selina Kyle.
- "Bane is not to be reasoned with," points out Tom Hardy regarding his villainous character. "Some people want to watch the world burn. Well, Bane has come to pull the pin on the grenade."
- "What Tom is able to do just with his expression and his eyes, it's terrifying," says Nolan. "Through the course of The Dark Knight Rises, we learn more about what drives Bane, where he comes from, what he wants...and none of it is good news."
- "The most important thing is to fit into Chris' Gotham City," remarks Hathaway. "My Catwoman has to be Chris Nolan's Catwoman. Selina Kyle has her own code of ethics, which sometimes involves doing things that others might find questionable."
- "Every great story deserves a great ending, and we really try to be true to that," says Nolan. "The Dark Knight Rises is our attempt to give that great story its great ending."
Ugh. July 20 can't come soon enough!
