When it came to landing a dream modeling gig, the third time was the charm for Gigi Hadid.

The 20-year-old made her debut walking the runway in sexy lingerie at the annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in New York City on Tuesday. Her mother, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star and former model Yolanda Foster, 51, told E! News her daughter auditioned twice before finally landing the gig, a dream job for many models.

"I still get emotional thinking about it. I've seen it 100 times and every time I see it, I start crying because I know it is something that she wanted so much and she worked so hard to get," she said at the event. "She's only 20 years old. She tried out twice and didn't get it and to get it the third time, it was just so special."

Gigi got emotional herself when she auditioned for the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show this year, as seen in a behind-the-scenes video posted by the lingerie company.

Gigi had months ago starred in a campaign for Victoria's Secret. Also earlier this year, she made headlines over her comments about body image. In August, she told The Daily Mail Australia that she did not want to be like "two pounds soaking wet."

Gigi's BFF and fellow model Kendall Jenner, 20, also made her debut at the fashion show. Her parents, Kris Jenner, 60, and Caitlyn Jenner, 66, both attended the event and posted touching messages about their daughter on Instagram, as did most of her sisters.

Foster shared moving messages herself.

"Hard work does pay off and dreams do come true......#ProofIsInThePudding @gigihadid @victoriassecret #VSfashionShow #VS," she said on Instagram.

Gigi's sister Bella Hadid, 19, was working on Tuesday and was unable to attend the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. She has not commented online about Gigi's debut.

While in New York, Foster recently gave her daughter a gift that made her very happy.

It also exhausted the model's mom. Foster has chronic Lyme disease, which causes major fatigue and has occasionally landed her in the hospital.

"I'm getting better," she told E! News. "I'm probably about 60 percent but still spending most of my days in bed and resting."
