This is no joke, Grey's Anatomy fans. Meredith is in danger.

After ABC released some alarming footage from February's midseason premiere of the good doc laying bloody on the hospital floor, we've been on the hunt for answers to our many questions. Now, some answers are here and, well, it doesn't look good.

"Meredith gets attacked and it's as gruesome and terrifying as it looks," Kelly McCreary admitted when E! News caught up with her and some of her co-stars on the white carpet at ABC's Winter Press Tour day on Saturday. "It's more. More gruesome and terrifying," Caterina Scorsone added. "There were moments where we were like, 'What?! Oh, God!' It's a lot."

In 12 seasons of Grey's Anatomy, poor Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) has been through more trauma than another other TV character that we can think of, and, as Pompeo's co-stars tell us, this one nears the top of the list in terms of magnitude. "It's up there with the worst of it," Sarah Drew said. "It's really high because also, she is totally powerless in the midst of it. I think that probably is the most terrifying piece of it for her."

As for how Mer's co-workers will respond to her attack, James Pickens Jr. revealed, "It makes us realize how much of a family Seattle Grace really is and how in times of trauma and times of turmoil, how you come together for the common good. In this case, it's saving her life basically."

For more from the Grey's cast on Meredith's attack, including what effect the Denzel Washington-directed episode will have on the rest of the season and whether or not we have to worry about a paralyzed Dr. Grey (!), you better press play on the video above.

Grey's Anatomy returns Thursday, Feb. 11 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
