If you ask Jim Carrey, pro-gun people might as well be dumb and dumber.

In advance of a new Funny or Die video hitting the web today in which he takes comic aim at the gun rights lobby, the Hollywood funnyman couldn't resist going on a Twitter tirade against his target.

"Some ppl hate when I talk about guns so I decided to sing about it!" tweeted the 51-year-old Carrey.

The clip finds Carrey parodying late actor and former NRA president Charlton Heston on Hee Haw and then performing in another guise an (aptly titled) new song, "Cold Dead Hand," which The Incredible Burt Wonderstone star said was his way of expressing frustration at the gun problem in the U.S. The satire ends with the comic dressed like cowboy actor Sam Elliot, hoisting a beer and saying, "biting social satire goes down smooth."

Sunday's online rant however had a lot more of a bite to it as he took to his WhoSay page and sounded off on gun enthusiasts' continued opposition to enacting common sense gun laws in the wake of the Sandy hook shooting

"Hunters hang animals up on their walls.I kill mosquitos bt their little heads r hard to mount!" he wrote.

"'Cold Dead Hand' is abt u heartless motherf--kers unwilling 2 bend 4 the safety of our kids.Sorry if you're offended by the word safety!" the actor continued.

"I'd like to respond to all the conservative bundits out there personally but I'm far too busy NOT stumping for the gun companies!" he also wrote.
