Zack Snyder Directing a New Star Wars Film? Not So Fast...

300 helmer's rep respectfully denies that he's contributing to the Empire

Alas, the next generation of Star Wars will be sadly lacking in the loincloth department.

There's a report out there that Zack Snyder is developing a Star Wars film, albeit one outside the realm of the three sequelish films planned by Disney, which snatched up George Lucas' Lucasfilm for $4.05 billion last year.

As if that part of the story wasn't confusing enough (apparently Disney's intending to really expand the Empire), here's the real rub: Snyder isn't going to be directing a Star Wars picture for anyone.

"While he is super flattered because he is a huge fan, Zack is not involved in any way with the new Star Wars," a rep for the filmmaker told E! News. "He is currently in post on his two films, Man of Steel and 300: Battle of Artemisia."

OK, so the near future won't be entirely without loincloths.

Meanwhile, Disney's planned Episodes VII, VIII and IX remain up for grabs in the director's-chair department and most of the headlines so far have been made by the talent that have disassociated themselves from the job, including Sndyer, Guillermo del Toro and J.J. Abrams.
