Actor shows off his singing in new production of gloomy musical, Parade

Congrats, T.R. Knight.

The former Grey's Anatomy star received a well-deserved standing ovation on Sunday night at the opening of Parade, a musical in which he stars as the real-life Leo Frank, a Jewish factory manager who was wrongly accused and convicted of killing a teenage girl in 1913.

Yeah, Parade ain't exactly light stuff.

And we're happy to report that Knight proved he's going to be just fine without Grey's...

Not only does he do a pretty good Jewish Brooklyn accent, but Mr. Knight could sing. The 36-year-old actor recently told the Los Angeles Times he hasn't sung on stage since a college production of Camelot.

His intensive vocal training obviously paid off.

And while we don't want to make light of the show's very serious subject matter, we must point out a scene in which Mr. Knight strips down to a pair of boxers. He's got quite the little body on him.

Coming out for the Sunday opening at L.A.'s Mark Taper Forum were Halle Berry and her baby daddy Gabriel Aubry, Grey's star Justin Chambers and his gorgeous wife Keisha, New Moon's Michael Sheen, Seinfeld's Jason Alexander, Desperate Housewives poobah Marc Cherry and a way too casually dressed T-shirt wearing Sean Hayes.
