Call Him Big Old Bird—Sesame Street Turns 40!
This may take Count von Count a while, but it's A-OK—Sesame Street marks its 40th anniversary today.
The PBS stalwart debuted on Nov. 10, 1969, and, after more than 21 million minutes aired, 122 Emmys and a Lifetime Achievement award, has managed to stay relevant—and sometimes controversial (remember that Bert-Bin Laden hookup?).
Cookie Monster, Elmo, Oscar the Grouch and friends will be celebrating in style with Michelle Obama and the letter H.
The first lady's appearance presumably won't be ticking off right-wingers—unless they're offended by vegetable gardens and Big Bird's measuring stick.
"Are you part bird?" the fine-feathered one asks her. "You and I are both really tall."
Cameron Diaz also stops by to help Grover explain the importance of trees.
Update
Ho-Ho-Hum Weekend for Jim Carrey; Ho-Ho-Worse for Cameron Diaz
Holiday movie season and high Oscar season have kicked off. But only one is kicking mistletoe.
While Jim Carrey's A Christmas Carol led a bah-humbug weekend with an underwhelming $31 million, per estimates, the Oprah Winfrey- and Tyler Perry-backed award-show contender Precious grossed a stunning $1.8 million at only 18 theaters.
Elsewhere, Michael Jackson's This Is It did its thing (solid $14 million here, bigger $29 million overseas), George Clooney's The Men Who Stare at Goats ($13.3 million) did better than expected for a movie with goats and George Clooney in it, and Cameron Diaz's The Box ($7.9 million) just didn't really open.
A look inside the numbers:
Review: The Box is Hilarious—But Doesn't Mean to Be (Hi, Cameron Diaz!)
Review in a Hurry: This preposterous Cameron Diaz thriller offers a promising premise: A mysterious box bestows riches in exchange for killing a stranger. But then it dumps in existentialism, government conspiracies, aliens, nosebleeds, deformities—and dresses it all in ugly '70s polyester fashions and geo-print wallpaper. Blecch.

Bad Buzz? Green Hornet Stung by Set Accident
Let's hope Seth Rogen and Cameron Diaz's onscreen action is better than the offscreen version.
The stars watched a stunt go awry this weekend during shooting of their upcoming crimefighter caper The Green Hornet, as a driver lost control of his car during a chase scene and crashed into the front of the headquarters of the Creative Artists Agency, and only E! News was there.
Rogen, Diaz and costar Edward James Olmos were filming a shootout with an incoming SWAT team in front of the offices of one of Hollywood's premiere talent agencies when the accident occurred.
None of the stars was involved in the scene. The stuntmen who were behind the wheel of the two vehicles walked away unscathed.
The same couldn't be said for the building. A portion of the driveway wall suffered moderate damage, prompting the film crew's construction department to work all day making repairs. A Sony Pictures rep described the incident as "a minor, noninjury accident" and said production was not delayed.
Barring further calamities, the Michel Gondry-directed flick should hit theaters Dec. 17, 2010.

While Green Hornet works to build buzz, take a gander at some of the other would-be blockbusters coming down the pike.
Now We Can Walk All Over Cameron Diaz
Call her No. 2,386.
That's the number of Cameron Diaz's star on Hollywood's vaunted Walk of Fame, and the Shrek star and her celeb pals were on hand Monday to mark her sidewalk immortality.
Vanilla Sky leading man Tom Cruise (accompanied by Katie Holmes), Charlie's Angels cohort Lucy Liu and directors Curtis Hanson and Nick Cassavetes joined the festivities, capped by Diaz's emotional tribute to her parents:
"It was what has given me the strength and courage to live this extraordinary life and it is what powers the light that burns inside of me, bright enough for me to be honored today with this star on the Walk of Fame."
Cameron Diaz Wants to Change Butt, Planet
Cameron Diaz is all about change, Obama-style, in her July Marie Claire profile, which mainly focuses on the environment. But we’re not good people, so gossipy stuff first, like plastic surgery!
The actress recently had her nose fixed after breaking it for the fourth time. "S--t just finds my face—it’s crazy," she explains.
As for more plastic surgery? Cam's not that into it even though there are features of her body she doesn't like.
"I'd love a bigger butt, more meat on my bones," she says. "I'd love to be more voluptuous. It's just not my body type."
She also discusses the wild-girl types that dominated our lives pre-Robert Pattinson. Turns out she kinda digs them: "I like sexy girls; I like slutty girls. But sometimes I go"—she mimes a yawn—"if that's all there is."
But really, this isn't what her profile is about. Cameron is on a mission to bring attention to the environment.

After the MTV Movie Awards ended yesterday, the night was still young for A-list attendees like Cameron Diaz, Zac Efron, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.
Host Andy Samberg headed to an afterparty at Teddy's with his girlfriend in tow, while Cameron came solo and sipped white wine. She was spotted chatting with Heroes costars Hayden Panettiere and Zachary Quinto inside the club.
Teddy's was also the place to be for Zac and Vanessa Hudgens, who couldn't keep their hands off each other at the bash.
"They were holding hands, dancing close and always had their arms around each other," a source tells E! News of the twosome.
Ah, young love. Speaking of (at least onscreen) amour, where were Rob and Kristen spotted celebrating their Best Kiss award?
Is Cameron Diaz Destined for Diaper Duty?
Whether or not Cameron Diaz will ever be showing those Shrek movies to her own kids someday remains to be seen.
"I'm not somebody who is going to declare either way if I'm absolutely going to or I'm absolutely not going to have children," the 36-year-old actress tells Parade.
"I have no idea. I'm still young," she adds. Not to mention busy flaunting her flat abs in that teeny green bikini. "I have an unbelievable life. In some ways, I have the life that I have because I don't have children."
What's more, Cam, who plays the mother of a child battling cancer in her upcoming film My Sister's Keeper, insists she isn't simply making excuses.
Rise 'n' Shine: Bradley Cooper Not That Into Jennifer Aniston
• Bradley Cooper's mother loves the rumors that her son is dating Jennifer Aniston, but sadly, the romance is not to be, he tells E! News. The Hangover actor says, "I went to a premiere of one of her movies and we were the last two people at the party, so I guess that's how [the rumor] started."
• Tons of other romance rumors hit the Web this weekend: Cameron Diaz shared a supposed smooch with Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine; Alicia Keys outted her longtime relationship with Swizz Beats; and American Idol may have an item of its own in Anoop Desai and Megan Joy.
• For a visit to the White House, Ricky Gervais dresses to impress…in pajamas!
• Looks like someone beat Nadya Suleman to the Octomom porno punch.
• Is Jon Gosselin claiming his supposed mistress likes the ladies?
• Paris Hilton loves mystyle almost as much as we do!

Cameron Diaz Chases Ambulances
Nothing says funny like ambulance-chasing lawyers.
At least that's hope for the brain trust behind Cameron Diaz's latest outing, in which she'll star as a ruthless legal eagle who takes the case when one of her firm's biggest clients gets sued for sexual discrimination.
According to Variety, Diaz is in final negotiations to star in Bobbie Sue. No director has yet been named.
Meanwhile,in other major casting news, Paul Giamatti returns to his indie roots, Elizabeth Banks swaps lowbrow for high-concept, Ron White continues to bring the blue-collar comedy, an X-Man goes to the Dogs and Iron Man 2 tests the mettle of some new recruits.

Drew Barrymore Gets Grey Gardens Family Approval
Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange are getting high praise for their performances in HBO's Grey Gardens from the people who know the story like no other: Big Edie Beale's grandchildren.
"I thought it was spectacular," Michelle Beale, whose father (Phelan Jr.) was Big Edie's older son, told me last night at the L.A. premiere at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
Michelle's cousin Christopher Beale (dad was Buddy Beale) added, "Very, very well done."
Read on for more on what they have to say about Barrymore and Lange, why not everyone in the family is a fan of Albert and David Maysles' original documentary and why their dads wished cousin Jackie O had not cleaned up the now legendary estate.
Caught! Cameron and Owen on the Down-Low in Fla.
Cameron Diaz, flying into Miami on a Saturday and hitting up yumtastic eatery Quattro in South Beach. Cam's still as svelte as she was back in her Charlie's Angels days—how the ef does this girl dine at such delicious places without ordering just agua?
Another star fluttering away to Ef-Hell-Ay was...
Owen Wilson, seeking some privacy—but apparently not getting enough of it—in Key Biscayne. Ow-hon hung out here while filming Marley & Me and musta grown attached to the low-key island. Wil-babe tried to keep it on the down-low this time without a film crew, but still got noticed by a particularly bitchy sandy source who called Owen "that actor with the big nose." Hey, that could be Adrien Brody, Dustin Hoffman or tons of other guys from T-town! ('Twas Ow, however).
More happily being noticed back on South Beach was...
