Katy Perry Does the Mash at MTV Europe Awards

When Katy Perry dons a corset and surrounds herself with dancers in retro lingerie...Well, she could be doing almost anything.

But on this occasion she was mashing together the Best Song nominees at the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards.

Hosting the shindig in Berlin for the second year in a row, Perry got the party at the "Katy Kat Club" going with a cabaret-style medley of Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling," David Guetta's "When Love Takes Over," featuring Kelly Rowland, Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody," Beyoncé's "Halo" and Lady Gaga's "Poker Face."

Perry's "Poker Face" was a little more wild-eyed than some, but she had the pantsless Gaga thing down. A little less bodysuit and we could've seen her halo.

But though all those acts got the proverbial girl-kiss from Perry, it was Beyoncé who stole the show with three wins for Best Female, Best Song and Best Video for "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)," and she was the night's final performer.

Check out a complete list of winners after the jump:

Beyoncé Bails on Malaysia Gig

Beyonce Knowles Kevin Mazur/Getty Images

Seems like Sasha Fierce isn't putting up much of a fight.

Beyoncé has called off a planned concert for culturally sensitive Malaysia after facing some pretty fierce objections from Islamic critics upset over her sexy stage outfits and dance routines.

The R&B songstress was due to perform Oct. 25 at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, but according to a statement released by Malaysia-based promoter Marctensia, the performance "has been postponed to a future date to be announced shortly."

"The postponement is soley [the] decision of the artist and has nothing to do with other external reasons," the company added.

Best to let it blow over, B.

Kanye Won't Swift Boat the AMAs: Taylor, Jackson Lead Nominees

Taylor Swift, Michael Jackson Frederick Breedon/Getty Images; Kevin Mazur/AEG via Getty Images

Taylor Swift just got six more potential chances to deliver an uninterrupted acceptance speech.

And, for the sake of the inevitable dead-horse-beating comparison: Kanye West scored a whopping zero chances to not let her finish. That's right, kids. Cut off America's sweetheart and you're as good as sitting out the next awards season. Or at least the 2009 American Music Awards.

The random triumvirate of Paula Abdul, Adam Lambert and Snoop Dogg announced the nominees for the AMAs this morning, and the country cutie led the pack with six nominations, including a nod for the nightcapping Artist of the Year Award.

Joining Swift at the forefront of the nominations is Michael Jackson, who scored a posthumous five nods, including Artist of the Year and Favorite Male Artist in both the pop/rock and soul/R&B genres.

Rounding out the nominated pack are Eminem, who nabbed four honors, and Beyoncé, the Black Eyed Peas, Kings of Leon, T.I. and Lady Gaga, who took home three apiece.

Jessica to Ashlee: Keep Procreating, Please!

More from Marc Malkin

Jessica Simpson talked about having babies this weekend. Well, her sister, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, having babies, that is.

"I want her to have another baby," Jessica said at Ash's 25th birthday celebration on Saturday at the Wet Republic pool in Las Vegas. "I want another nephew or a niece."

The Melrose Place star, along with her big sister, jetted into Sin City on Saturday morning with family and friends, including hubby Pete Wentz and parents Tina and Joe.

Holding court in a private bungalow, Ash was surprised with a three-tiered cake topped with cupcakes.

Not sure if this has anything to do with the not-dating-anyone Jessica, but...

Beyoncé Ready to Cover Up Her Bootylicious Self?

Beyonce Knowles Kevin Mazur/WireImage.com

Yo, Osaka. We're really happy for you, but Kuala Lumpur has one of the best Beyoncé-worthy venues of all time...

We could only hope that's how it went down when the Bootylicious One agreed to bring her world tour to Malyasia next month, two years after scrapping a concert there due to anger by Islamic activists over her gyrating stage antics and titillating costumes.

Her website confirmed a stadium gig in the capital city on Oct. 25.

"Beyoncé for the first time ever has decided to make Malaysia part of her 'I Am' World Tour," a Knowles-sanctioned statement reads.

Malaysia's Islamic opposition party has already begun murmuring about a protest. The nation traditionally forced foreign performers to adhere to a strict dress code and code of conduct that includes no jumping, shouting, hugging or kissing onstage.

Beyoncé isn't the only artist to run into trouble in Malaysia. Similar complaints have surfaced there in recent years about cleavage-baring performances by the likes of Gwen Stefani, the Pussycat Dolls and Avril Lavigne.

Big Stink Over Beyoncé's Perfume

Beyonce Knowles Kevin Mazur/WireImage.com

And Beyoncé probably thought Kanye West was a pain in her ass.

Yesterday, Ms. Knowles was trumpeting her deal with the perfume purveyors at Coty Inc. to launch her own signature scent.

Today, Abercrombie & Fitch is trumpeting its preemptive lawsuit against Knowles and her olfactory allies, claiming they'd violate the trademark on Abercrombie's own Fierce cologne if they decide to name Knowles' perfume after the singer's alter ego, Sasha Fierce.

The rub? Knowles hasn't even picked a name for her fragrance yet.

Still, Abercrombie insists that the diva has already filed a series of intent-to-use trademark applications for Sasha Fierce and just wants to make sure no harm comes to the Fierce brand, which has earned nearly $200 million for Abercrombie since its launch in 2002.

Of course, Beyoncé has plenty of other song titles to draw from if she needs a whiff of inspiration. "Irreplaceable" anyone? If not, there's always our favorite, "Ego"—remixed by a certain Mr. West, natch.

Let the Kanye Remixes Begin: Obama Edition

You just don't mess with endearing and rabid-fan-based 19-year-old phenoms, m'kay?

But as long as Kanye West is crossing the line and going there, the ever-viral masses have released upon YouTube a 13-second (every one of them glorious) remix of the now roundly reviled hip-hop star's Beyoncé-favoring, Taylor Swift-deflating Video Music Award outburst.

This time, though, he doesn't go after America's sweetheart. He goes after America's president. As it happens, with perfect comedic timing.

Looks like even Barack Obama's on Team Taylor.

Michael Jackson Puts the M in VMAs

The claws were out tonight at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.

First there were the ones Kanye West dug into Taylor Swift's big moment, then there was whatever caused Lady Gaga to get all bloodied up, then there was that thing Beyoncé Knowles wears when she's trying to be Sasha Fierce, and, of course, there were a few werewolves.

But the night didn't start out quite so barbed.

Madonna opened the show at Radio City Music Hall with a heartfelt speech about her relationship with Michael Jackson, as well as that of his fans. The highly anticipated tribute performance followed with well-known dancers (and So You Think You Can Dance choreographers) Mia Michaels, Laurie Anne Gibson, Wade Robson and recent Emmy winner Tyce Diorio doing the King of Pop's classic moves to a mix of "Thriller," "Bad" and "Smooth Criminal."

Then it was Janet Jackson's turn.

Oprah Winfrey on Jay-Z: He Smells Really Good!

O Magazine, Oprah, Jay Z O Magazine
More from Marc Malkin

Oprah Winfrey thinks Jay-Z stinks—in a good way, that is.

"I could smell him on me and I was like, 'Oh, my, this is wonderful,' " the talk-show queen recently gushed on her best bud Gayle King's radio show. "He smelled so good!"

Winfrey got up close and personal with the music mogul when she interviewed him for the new issue of O magazine.

All scents aside, Winfrey managed to get the ultraprivate hip-hopster to talk about his marriage to 27-year-old Beyoncé Knowles...

Project Runway All-Star Sues Over Beyoncé's Tour Togs

Beyonce Knowles, Chris March Jason LaVeris/Getty Images; Astrid Stawiarz/Getty Images

Beyoncé's I Am… extravaganza is a tour de force. It also just became a tour de fierce.

Project Runway all-star Chris March, he of the outlandish costume design and seemingly incessant narcolepsy, has filed suit against Beyoncé's world tour costume designers (but not the star herself) for failing to make good on payments promised for properly outfitting Sasha Fierce.

Those robogloves and futuristic superhero outfits don't pay for themselves, you know.

March, who placed fourth on both the All-Star special last week and during the fourth season of the reality hit, filed the suit on July 23, seeking upwards of $45,000 for wardrobe services rendered.

"Chris March's lawsuit is not against Beyoncé, but rather against Thierry Mugler and Tancrede Prinz, who owe Chris money for having designed and fitted Beyoncé's costumes," March's lawyer, Leslie Ben-Zvi, told E! News.

Sounds like a job for the fashion police. Or the New York State Supreme Court.

Jessica Simpson's World Is Rocked Yet Again

Jessica Simpson courtesy Brian Lindensmith/Getty Images

Jessica Simpson is all shook up.

No, Tony Romo hasn't acted douchey once again and publicly humiliated Jess.

The songstress arrived in Japan over the weekend only to experience a huge earthquake that rocked the Tsuruga Bay region of the country. In response to what is now being classified as a 7.2 shaker, Simpson did what anyone would do: tweet.

"I have never felt anything like this in my life," wrote Jess. "Thought I was hallucinating during a 6.6 earthquake in Japan. Laying in bed watching CNN."

In all fairness, earthquakes of any size are scary, but a quake of that magnitude would be downright terrifying. And it looks like Jess wasn't the only singer overseas.

Beyoncé and Solange Knowles were shaken up, too, with little sis updating her Twitter as well: "How did I sleep through a serious earthquake? AGAIN." An hour later, she continued: "WTF! My sister said she was scared out of her mind and calling my mom and I was snoring. 6.6? Tsunami watch?"

On a more positive note, all three songbirds are safe and healthy—and their tweeting capacity has clearly not been diminished.

Battle Rages Over Kelly Clarkson's Beyoncé Rip-Off

It's not just the songs that are getting played.

If, when Kelly Clarkson's "Already Gone" was released this month, you thought the melody sounded a bit—how should we put this?—familiar, you weren't the only one.

The original American Idol champ is engaged in a public battle with her frequent collaborator, OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder, blaming him for what many discerning fans have long suspected: using the same music as Beyoncé's "Halo," which he also worked on.
