It seems the paparazzi hot on the trail of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt could use some bodyguards of their own.

An unfortunate photog who tried to snap a shot of the couple as they exited their hotel in Pune, India Saturday was roughly rebuffed by an overzealous member of their security detail.

Video footage of the dustup, which was caught on tape by an Indian television station, shows a bodyguard grasping a camera-wielding paparazzo by the throat before forcibly shoving him away from the couple.

The hapless shutterbug, who was identified as Sam Relph of Barcroft Media, told the Hindustan Times that the security guard threatened his life.

"He said if I took his pictures he would kill me," the paper quoted Relph as saying. "I couldn't breathe. He had his fingers on my windpipe and he knew what he was doing."

Relph said the guard told the assorted paparazzi to stop shooting the couple and that he lunged for Relph after the photog refused to put his camera away.

Two Indian photographers also claimed they were threatened by the same guard, who was not identified.

Pitt and Jolie, along with their three children, are in India to shoot scenes for the upcoming movie A Mighty Heart, in which Jolie stars as slain journalist Daniel Pearl's widow, Mariane. Pitt's Plan B production company is coproducing the film.

Relentless paparazzi coverage of the Jolie-Pitt clan's visit has led the couple to remain holed up in Pune's Le Meridan Hotel almost nonstop since they arrived by private jet late last week.

The duo ventured out again on Sunday to explore the city by rickshaw with their five-year-old son Maddox, but reportedly cut the trip short after they were once again mobbed by photographers every time the three-wheeled carriage came to a halt.

It's far from the first time the photogenic family has clashed with those trying to catch them on film.

In April, one of Pitt and Jolie's bodyguards reportedly beat up a photographer who tried to get a shot of the couple as they awaited the birth of their daughter, Shiloh Nouvel, in Namibia.

In June, a shutterbug who allegedly hid in the bushes at Maddox Jolie-Pitt's Malibu daycare center in an attempt to photograph the child was arrested for trespassing.

Also in June, the couple sought the help of federal officials in apprehending two individuals who stole photos of their baby shower off a digital memory card belonging to Jolie's brother, James Haven.

That's not to say the Jolie-Pitts are fully opposed to having their picture taken--as long as it's for a good cause.

The activist couple memorably auctioned off Shiloh's first baby pictures to People magazine for a reported $4.1 million, then donated the proceeds to charity.
