Here's something that might get the "U Smile" singer grinning.

In the wake of allegations that Justin Bieber attacked a fellow youngster while playing laser tag in Canada, a source North of the border tells E! News that early stages of the police investigation indicate that it is "highly unlikely" the 16-year-old sensation would be charged with assault.

But why?

It seems that surveillance tape from the gaming facility failed to capture the alleged melee, says the source, adding that eyewitness statements do not back up the claims made by the 12-year-old boy.

Of course, whether or not Bieber himself was even involved in the alleged altercation is still a bit of a mystery as the Richmond Royal Canadian Mounted Police cannot confirm his name on record because he is a minor and Bieber's camp has labeled accounts of the purported incident as "absolutely untrue."

However, a source tells us that Bieber was fingered in a police complaint filed by the accuser's father last Friday night in Richmond, British Columbia.

The source also says that Planet Lazer owner Michael Marti has hired lawyers because Bieber's camp is supposedly displeased by Marti's daughter talking to the media about his visit to the establishment.

Meanwhile, the authorities in Richmond tell E! News that the investigation is "still active," but they have no new information. Nor are they releasing any paperwork about the incident.

And Bieber's got work to do.

"MY WORLD Tour finally continues 2morrow in Vancouver," he tweeted this afternoon. "We had to get it going in Canada. Excited to get back to performing."
