Are Police Really Probing Justin Bieber?

A rep for the Richmond Royal Canadian Mounted Police tells E! they are investigating a claim of assault against a 12-year-old boy, but they cannot confirm to E! that Justin Bieber is the suspect.

Belieber it or not, Justin Bieber's name is being thrown around the web today regarding something a little more scandalous than chipped nail polish: Laser tag.

It seems like an innocent enough way to pass the time (not to mention totally age appropriate!), but according to several Canadian reports, the popster was booted from a British Columbia tag joint after a 12-year-old claimed Bieber hit him while playing the game.

So was Bieber really involved in the alleged scuffle? Here's what E! News has learned:

Well, we've learned that we may never actually know what happened on that fateful day up north—at least not from Canadian authorities.

"What I can say is that we received a complaint Friday evening of a 12-year-old boy that was assaulted at a local entertainment facility," Cpl. Sherrdean Turley of the Richmond Royal Canadian Mounted Police tells E! News. "The boy's father reported it to police and we are currently investigating."

Adds Turley: "It's still really early and we're speaking to a number of individuals that potentially witnessed the incident, [plus] we have spoken to the boy."

As of now, the notion that Bieber, who just so happens to be up in Vancouver for a concert, was the alleged "assailant" is merely conjecture. And until the 16-year-old star or said victim speak out about the reported altercation, it looks like it's going to stay that way.

"I can't confirm the name of any of the parties involved," Turley tells us. "In Canada, when they're under the age of 18, we don't make the names public at all. I will never be able to confirm either reports."

Our calls for comment have yet to be returned, but a rep for Bieber did tell TMZ Saturday that these reports are "absolutely untrue."

What do you make of these alleged laser tag troubles?
