Is money the ultimate corruptor?
One thing's for sure: All Good Things, starring Ryan Gosling and Kirsten Dunst, makes a pretty strong case that it is...
The movie is based on the true story of Robert Durst (Frank Langella), a wealthy New York real estate mogul who was suspected of having killed his wife. (She disappeared in 1982, and her body was never found.)
We see firsthand the pressure Durst's son (Gosling) is under to live up to his father's demands and be true to his wife (Dunst). And the trailer really hammers home that dramatic pull.
The filmmakers pull out all the stops: dramatic time lapses, people making phone calls in the dark and, oh yeah, Gosling taking off his shirt right before things cut to black. It's all there, straight from the How to Create Tension playbook.
But wait a minute, is that SNL's Kristen Wiig popping up as one of Dunst's friends? It certainly is. Now there's a dramatic move.
