Paris Hilton's Plot to Steal Mug-Shot Spotlight From Lindsay Lohan?

Would heiress really orchestrate cocaine bust to trump actress rival in headlines? Well, it's a (conspiracy) theory

Did you read what Lindsay Lohan did last weekend?

Nope. Because you were otherwise occupied reading about what Paris Hilton did—allegedly—last weekend.

And our question is: Is that the way Hilton likes it?

Think about it, Hilton and Lohan have been trading headlines for years. Friends turned frenemies, they reportedly both went to great logistical lengths to avoid running into each other—and, by the by, avoid sharing attention—at this past spring's Cannes Film Festival.

So, do you think Hilton was good with Lohan coming out of Cannes a hot tabloid mess the likes of which we haven't seen since Britney Spears tended her own hair?

Oh, look, Lindsay lost her passport! Oh, look, Linday set off her SCRAM bracelet! Oh, look, Lindsay, wrote "F--k" on her fingernail!

While we imagine a rival such as Hilton would concede that last one there to be the work of a photo-op genius, we also imagine a rival such as Hilton would go a big bunch of bananas.

When is somebody going to look at me, me, ME?!

We ran our theory by relationship expert Diana Kirschner, author of Love in 90 Days. While not addressing the Hilton situation, as we see it, specifically, Kirschner told us that, in general, yes, jealously does drives one-upmanship among peers.

And the crazy thing about the person desperate to keep up with the Lohans Jonses?

"They're not aware of it," Kirschner said. "[They're] unconsciously acting out to get attention."

So, did Hilton really orchestrate a spectacular cocaine bust, a fantastic mugshot and thoroughly entertaining excuse to steal the mug-shot spotlight away from Lohan?

We don't know. Then again, maybe Hilton doesn't, either.
