Some people have all the luck. Redmond O'Neal is not one of those people.
After nearly eight months of living clean (or at least avoiding arrest) at his court-ordered drug-and-alcohol treatment center, the son of the late Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O'Neal has yet again been arrested on felony drug charges.
The latest bust went down Dec. 29, after O'Neal's seemingly altered state aroused suspicion among staffers when he returned to the facility (his fourth go-round in rehab) after earning a 24-hour pass.
He appeared in court this morning for his latest probation violation and was ordered to remain jailed until his formal sentencing on Feb. 2.
In the meantime, O'Neal will be both locked up and—fingers crossed—dried out: The judge ordered him to serve 30 days in a lockdown rehab program while being held, Los Angeles District Attorney spokeswoman Jane Robison tells E! News.
During the hearing, O'Neal handed Judge Michael Tynan a handwritten letter, though it was not read in court.
"It actually strikes me that you haven't got a clue as to what recovery means," Tynan said. "It is a lifelong commitment and it's grinding, hard, painful work.
"You've got one responsibility and that's to yourself—to get clean and sober," the judge went on, adding that he wanted O'Neal to "concentrate on relapse prevention and triggers" while in custody.
The rehab bust isn't the first O'Neal indiscretions with a major "d'oh!" factor.
Last April, the troubled addict was caught carrying narcotics through a security checkpoint while visiting a friend in (wait for it) jail.
Not exactly what you'd call the crime of the century.
