Not so, says a close friend to the late singer, who's known Whitney since before she met the New Edition singer in 1989: "Bobby Brown did not start Whitney Houston on a road that led to her death."

A Madison County clerk tells E! News that the MTV reality star was sentenced to two years on her probation violation and three years on the drug violation (authorities found a prescription medication that she had no prescription for in her purse in December). However, the sentence was stayed (that is, put off for a period of time to see if further developments should affect the sentencing) pending Portwood's acceptance and completion of an intense drug rehabilitation program.

Griffin O'Neal Sentenced to Prison Time for DUI Crash
Griffin O'Neal had to face the music eventually.
The eldest son of Ryan O'Neal was sentenced to 16 months in prison today for a DUI crash last summer that left the other driver injured.
After pleading guilty to two felony counts of driving under influence of drugs and possession of a firearm by a felon (there was a gun in the car) in November, he missed his initial sentencing hearing last month.

Leslie Carter Cause of Death: Drug Overdose, Says Police Report
New details have emerged in the "mysterious" death of Leslie Carter, including a possible cause of the 25-year-old's untimely passing.
According to a police report obtained by E! News, the former House of Carters star and sister of Nick and Aaron Carter died as a result of an overdose, with three prescription drugs found near her body.
