Natalie Cole is on the mend.

Less than a week after receiving a kidney transplant and losing her sister Carol "Cookie" Cole to lung cancer on the same day, the Unforgettable chanteuse was released from a Los Angeles-area hospital Sunday and is now recovering at home.

"She is doing well under the circumstances," her rep, Maureen O'Connor, tells E! News.

Cole, 59, underwent the life-saving operation last Tuesday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after the organ was procured for her by One Legacy, a transplant donor network in Southern California.

As the Grammy-winning singer was in surgery, her older adopted sister, Cookie, a sometime actress who had a bit role in The Taking of Pelham One Two Three, died at age 64 after being diagnosed with lung cancer only the week before.

Natalie Cole, who had been undergoing dialysis since a hospitalization last fall due to complications from treatment for hepatitis C, attended a private family memorial service for Cookie on Monday, says O'Connor.

She plans to spend the next three months recovering before resuming a concert tour in support of her latest CD, Still Unforgettable.
