Rate-a-Trailer: Drew Barrymore in the Garden of Edies
There's never been a film exactly like Grey Gardens, the creepy, campy 1975 Maysles brothers documentary about a dotty mother-daughter duo holed up in a rotting mansion with a bunch of cats, a raccoon and their own strange pathologies.
Until now, that is.
Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange play the inseparable Little Edie and Big Edie in a new HBO film version premiering April 18, and the trailer seems to promise all the strange humor, horror and pathos of the original, along with some fleshed-out backstory for good measure, such as a meeting with their real-life relative Jackie Onassis.
