In light of the major feud that has broken out between Nikki Bella and Brie Bella, Jerry Springer has been called in to stage an intervention between the Total Divas stars!

The longtime talk show host, who also happens to be married to a twin, thinks that there's a lot more to the situation than meets the eye.

"I think it's something deeper," Jerry explained. "Because if you're twin sisters, you wouldn't let something like the Stephanie McMahon situation break you up. I mean, you've had a life together. There's probably some resentment on one by the other and so I think there's a deeper issue there. This is either the straw that broke the camel's back or it's the thing that set it off. Two twins that get along wouldn't let that break them up—you have that whole blood is thicker than water argument. But my guess is the intensity of the relationship in either direction, the love or the hate, is gonna be more severe if you're twins."

When it comes to staging the intervention between the twins, Jerry admitted that he doesn't have a specific game plan. Watch the clip above to get a sneak peek at what's in store on tonight's episode of WWE Raw!

"I don't know that anything works and I don't have any preconceived notion," he pointed out. "I think the idea is that once I'm there in the environment with them and watching how they react or what concerns them, then hopefully something comes to mind, but if one of them is determined to keep the fight going, they're not going to be talked out of it. You just have to see if there is a common ground that would make them think it's better to be back together again as twins and have each other's back, but if they don't feel that, it's not gonna happen and there will be chaos."

And when asked about which Bella twin he prefers, Jerry chose to remain mute on the subject.

"Assuming that I don't want to be hurt, I won't answer that question," he laughed. "Either of them could beat me up and let's be honest, I'm a 70-year-old man. Who's not going to beat me up? I just hope everyone has the sense not to hurt me."

Jerry's passion for wrestling began when he was just a child.

"I watched wrestling as a kid back when television was black and white," he remarked. "The heroes then were Anthony Rocca, Ricky Starr, Haystacks Calhoun, The Great Bolo, Gorgeous George—those were the ones we would always pretend to be and we'd have wrestling matches and try out some of their moves."

This isn't the first WWE appearance for the talk show host either.  He also made an appearance at Monday Night Raw back in 2010, but his role at the event was completely different.

"Last time I talked to some of the wrestlers but this time they really want me to try to bring these two together," he said. "So there's a heavier role for me to play because before I wasn't dealing with any crisis that was going on in the wrestling world. This time, especially since Stephanie is involved, it seems to be a much more serious issue which is why I think they're bringing me in. This could be a disaster for me! Never mind the wrestlers so we'll see what happens but I'll try my best. I'm scared to death and I'm bringing my Depends!"

Watch Jerry on WWE Raw tonight at 8/7c on the USA Network and tune-in to an all-new Total Divas this Sunday at 9/8c on E!
