Hollywood's Greatest Love Stories—Which Power Couples Made the Cut?!
Happy Valentine's Day, beautiful readers! And in case you're one of those poor, miserable suckers who totally hates this day of love, greeting cards and candy hearts (ya know, like we used to!) we hope to inspire a bit of romance in your cranky selves.
By looking at some of Hollywood's greatest love stories, of course! And even though the juicy breakups are the ones that grab headlines (if one more couple like Heidi Klum and Seal busts up, we're screaming!), instead, we're focusing on these 20 fab relationships that have lasted:
Tom Hanks Mourns the Loss of Monty, the "Finest Dog Ever"
Thursday was a sad day in a certain Hollywood household.
Tom Hanks lost a beloved member of the family: his dog, Monty. "Deep brown eyes, noble demeanor, finest dog ever," the Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close star wrote on his WhoSay page, sharing a picture of Monty enjoying the outdoors. "A sad day. Goodbye Big Boy, Hanx."
The only silver lining about Monty's passing?
All dogs go to heaven.
Who thinks Hooch was waiting at the pearly gates for Hanks' pup?
Movie Review: Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close Is Extremely Irritating and Incredibly Dull
Review in a Hurry: Tom Hanks mugs irritatingly as a dorky dad for a few minutes, then dies in the World Trade Center on 9-11. His kid, who may or may not have Asperger's (in a cop-out kind of way, we're told that tests were inconclusive), spends the whole rest of the movie trying to cope. In part this is achieved by searching for the origin of a mysterious key, but mostly it involves talking, talking, talking...which rapidly becomes tiresome.
EXCLUSIVE!
See Angelina Jolie Become Fangirl With Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close's Kid Star!
Thomas Horn has officially met his No. 1 fan.
While on the red carpet at the 2012 Palm Springs International Film Festival over the weekend, the young breakout star of Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close found his interview with E! News briefly interrupted by none other than Angelina Jolie!
But that certainly wasn't a bad thing...
Forrest Gump, Silence of the Lambs, Bambi to Be Preserved in National Film Registry
Life is like a box of chocolates—you never know what you're gonna get. And some movies are like a fine wine fava beans and a nice chianti—they stand the test of time.
That's the case at least for 1994's Forrest Gump, 1942's Bambi and 1991's The Silence of the Lambs, which are among 25 cinematic classics the Library of Congress has tapped for inclusion this year in the National Film Registry.
Twin Towers Burn in Gut-Wrenching Trailer for Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock's Extremely Loud
Yes, when a movie is rooted in the tragic events of 9/11, it's destined to be emotional. So, not surprisingly, this new trailer for the upcoming film Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close may be a bit hard to watch at times, but it's also very uplifting.
Based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Jonathan Safran Foer, it centers on a 9-year-old boy named Oskar (Jeopardy! winner Thomas Horn) as he deals with the loss of his father (Tom Hanks) at the Twin Towers. When he discovers a key that belonged to his Dad, Oskar embarks on an offbeat quest for information as to what it unlocks.
Sandra Bullock, appearing in her first role since taking home an Academy Award for The Blind Side, plays Oskar's mom. The moving drama, directed by Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot, The Hours) also stars Viola Davis, James Gandolfini and Max von Sydow.
So, take a look. Although, you may want to grab a hankie first. Or two.
Who Tops the Charts as Hollywood's Richest Actor?
In Hollywood, you always have to expect the unexpected.
An A-list celebrity could become a nobody in a year, and that nobody from a year ago could be the coolest thing since sliced bread now (funny how that works). But the guys who stick around and make a name for themselves rack in some major millions.
Forbes has released their list of the five highest-paid actors in the past year. Can you guess who made the cut?
UPDATE!
Shia LaBeouf Rules, but Who Bombed?
Shia LaBeouf is the new King of the Fourth of July.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon grossed $116.4 million over the four-day holiday weekend, and set an Independence Day record with a $97.5 million Friday-Sunday take.
As for who's the queen of the Fourth?
Well, it ain't Selena Gomez.
Movie Review: Tom Hanks & Julia Roberts' Adult-Ed Romance Larry Crowne Barely Passable
Review in a Hurry: Not the head of the class. Tom Hanks plays the titular middle-aged college student who's hot for his burned-out teacher (Julia Roberts). Mildly amusing Larry gets a pass because of its likable leads but earns low marks for the flimsy plot and undercooked romance.
Tom Hanks: Woody and Buzz Lightyear Are Coming Back for Toy Story 4
Did the new short before Cars 2 whet your animation appetite for more Toy Story?
Well, you're in luck: Tom Hanks shares that the saga of cowboy Woody and Buzz Lightyear is not yet over and that Toy Story 4 is in the works.
Yee-haw!
