Simon Cowell: I Was Considering Whitney Houston for The X Factor
As it turns out, one of the rumors surrounding potential judges for the X Factor was true.
Following the news of Whitney Houston's world-shaking death, Simon Cowell called in to CNN's Piers Morgan on Saturday and confirmed that Houston was in consideration for the Fox reality competition.
Five Reasons for The X Factor Teardown
The body count on the Moldavian massacre wasn't this high, nor the motive as murky.
Why exactly have Steve Jones, Nicole Scherzinger and, most surprising, Paula Abdul all been exed out of The X Factor? A rundown of the five leading scenarios:

X Factor's Stacy Francis Weighs In On Bloodbath: "It Became About Nicole's Ego"
Stacy Francis had a habit of crying when she was performing—or just talking, for that matter—when she was competing on The X Factor.
However, she's not exactly shedding that many tears over Simon Cowell's massive bloodbath yesterday that left Steve Jones, Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger cut from season two.
Simon Cowell Breaks Off Engagement to Mezghan Husseiny—Is It Permanent?
No one can deny that Simon Cowell's one true love has always been himself. And for the time being, that's how it's going to stay.
The X Factor heavyweight has confirmed that after two years together, he and his makeup artist girlfriend (and much rumored fiancée) are no longer wedding aisle-bound, and that the couple, who last saw each other just before Christmas, are currently on a break.
Though to hear him say it, it's not as if they're totally broken.
99 Reasons We Love Hollywood: #54-46!
We're now officially three days past Christmas and three days away from New Year's (and today is sadly the last day of Hanukkah), so we understand if you're feeling a bit…Shall we say, "Bah, humbug!"-ish.
But Team Truth is still feeling the holiday love, which is why we're entering the latter half of our 99 reasons we still love Hollywood—ya know, like how we fawned over actresses like Gwyneth Paltrow, Lea Michele, Zooey and Emily Deschanel and Jessica Chastain yesterday.
Well, we've got nine more reasons to love this sometimes crazy, sometimes classy and always entertaining town. And we're starting it off with a guy we know you love:
The X Factor's $5 Million Winner Melanie Amaro: 'I Needed Simon Cowell To Win!'
They go together like peanut butter and jelly, like a horse and carriage, like a...oh, you get the idea.
Obviously, we're talking about The X Factor's Melanie Amaro, who won the competition last night, and her mentor Simon Cowell. While on a conference call with reporters, Amaro revealed she wouldn't have won the competition if L.A. Reid, Nicole Scherzinger or Paula Abdul had been her mentor.
Still, we had to know: Has she ever forgiven Cowell for originally sending her home? Plus, what is she planning to do with her $5 million prize?

X Factor Scoop: Melanie Amaro's "Shock" and Whether Steve Jones and Paula Abdul Will Return
Melanie Amaro sang and America listened. They really listened.
The 19-year-old with the powerhouse vocals was crowned winner of The X Factor (and a $5 million recording contract!) on Thursday night. Also a winner? Simon Cowell, her mentor, who originally sent Amaro back home. We caught up with Amaro and Cowell after the big show to talk about Cowell's fateful decision to bring her back into the competition.
Cowell and Paula Abdul also made two very different comparisons to their ol' show American Idol and we finally learned what Justin Bieber smells like...
Who Just Won The X Factor?!
It was a $5 million night for one lucky singer—and we're not talking Justin Bieber's appearance fee!
The first season of The X Factor on these shores came to a close Thursday with the usual two-hour, star-studded extravaganza, made a little bit cozier and au courant than usual by all the Christmas music.
As you might expect, Melanie Amaro channeled Mariah Carey on "All I Want for Christmas Is You," Josh Krajcik took everyone to church with "Please Come Home for Christmas" and—unexpectedly—Chris Rene left the hip-hop behind and went full crooner on "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."
Judy Garland would have been proud, sure, but the aspiring star who's going to be having the merriest Christmas ever this weekend...
The X Factor Final: Did Melanie, Josh and Chris (or Alanis and Avril) Give $5 Million Performances?
It all ends tomorrow, but first, the top three contestants had to shine tonight.
And, theoretically, the judges had to refrain from killing each other.
Melanie Amaro, Josh Krajcik and Chris Rene successfully managed to put all distractions—like biased knocks from the judges and the questions of whether Nicole Scherzinger is doing a good enough job judging or whether Steve Jones is a proper host—aside and make the finals of the inaugural U.S. season of The X Factor.
"It's going to be the closest final we've ever had," Simon Cowell predicted before they started singing—never mind that "we've" never had an X Factor final before...but we get what he meant.
So who gave a $5 million performance tonight?
X Factor Shake Up! Are Nicole Scherzinger and Steve Jones Getting the Boot?
Who needs an actual competition on The X Factor when all the drama you want is waiting behind the scenes?
After an emotional elimination that left Nicole Scherzinger in hysterical tears, fans started wondering if the judge was cut out for this gig. And today, there are rumors circulating that host Steve Jones might be getting shipped back to Wales and a new host will be brought on in season two.
So will Scherzinger and Jones be returning for season two or are the exit rumors true?
