Regis Philbin Signs Off After 28 Years of Live!
Regis Philbin is getting emotional. But then, so is his loyal, long-watching TV audience.
Today marked Reeg's finale as the self-referential coffee-klatsch mainstay on Live With Regis and Kelly as he signed off at the undeniably amazing age of 80 after 28 years as the lead host.
Fittingly retrospective, touching and funny, the hourlong swansong included not only Philbin's current cohost, Kelly Ripa, but a walk down memory lane with a veritable all-star audience.

Alas, the day has come.
Tomorrow will mark the last time Regis Philbin will take his seat next to cohost Kelly Ripa on Live, and today, E! News was lucky enough to get a few words from the separating couple (it's like a breakup!) at Philbin's farewell press conference.
"I feel pretty good, I'm not saying I'm gonna feel as good on Monday down there in Miami, but right now...I wasn't looking forward to this moment—you never are in your life—especially when you're leaving a success that you worked your tail off to make, and it's here. And why not hang around and enjoy it? But I have and its time really to move on…"

One Sad Goodbye: Regis Philbin Announces Exit Date From Live
The mornings will never be the same.
Regis Philbin revealed on Live With Regis and Kelly Tuesday morning that Nov. 18 will officially be his last day cohosting his popular syndicated gabfest after 28 years of hamming it up on the air.
"Friday, November 18 is my last day," the 80-year-old host told viewers. "But don't worry, the show goes on."

Kelly Ripa would be just fine with her hubby, Mark Consuelos, taking over Regis Philbin's job on Live! With Regis & Kelly once the chatfest vet steps down in November, but there's just one small issue.

"It's our favorite rumor, because the one person with zero interest in the job would be my husband," Kelly told me while hosting Super Saturday 14 this weekend in the Hamptons.
