For the first time in 16 years, CBS does not have a CSI on its schedule. The network canceled CSI: Cyber, the last remaining spinoff from CSI: Crime Scene Investigation after just two seasons.
Patricia Arquette and Ted Danson starred in the last remaining CSI that struggled in the ratings.
"Look I'm incredibly proud of all four shows that came out of the CSI franchise. Clearly it was a huge hit for us," CBS's Glenn Geller said. "A global hit, all four series. It may come back in another incarnation and that's where it stands for me."
CBS honchos addressed a number of topics with the press at their schedule presentation, including what the status of Limitless is. "Right now we're in discussions with other potential buyers," Geller said when asked what was happening with the series starring Jake McDorman and Jennifer Carpenter. So it's not done yet, Limitless fans.
As for one of their new midseason dramas, Doubt, CBS's Geller defended the casting of Katherine Heigl. Heigl's TV comeback after departing Grey's Anatomy in a flurry of headlines was State of Affairs on NBC and that didn't go very well.
"I think she's a phenomenal actress. This legal show has a deep deep bench of characters. I understand State of Affairs wasn't fantastic, but she's had many, many successful years on Grey's Anatomy," Geller said.
