ABCABC just released photos and bios for the contestants who will be battling to the bloody death on The Bachelorette to win JoJo Fletcher's hand in marriage and…what? This season isn't a bloody battle to the death? C'mon, ABC! We thought you were mixing it up this year.
Fine. The dudes aren't fighting each other physically, but they will fight each other emotionally to win season 12 of the ABC dating series. As soon as the pics and info on all the men went live, we were immediately scouring for clues on which ones we thought would go far in the competition. What did we look at? Not careers, not the idea of a perfect date or any of that nonsense.
We went straight to their picks for all-time favorite movies. Those always reveal everything you need to know about a potential suitor.
Basically, if you didn't pick Dumb and Dumber, you were already on our list of top contenders. Not that we having anything against that movie, but we're looking for a little originality and flair to go with JoJo's personality.
Here's our choices for contestants who will go far with JoJo just based on their movie choices:
1. Chase
All-time favorite movies: Gladiator, Ace Ventura, The Chronicles of Narnia
Our take: Gladiator was on every other dude's list. But Ace Ventura (a classic comedy) and The Chronicles of Narnia (a surprising addition) tells us this dude can stray outside the norm.
2. Derek
All-time favorite movies: Hook, Field of Dreams, Star Wars
Our take: We stopped reading after Hook, because YES. Field of Dreams is sort of predictable. As is Star Wars, but we'll never not love a Star Wars nerd.
3. Evan
All-time favorite movies: Home Alone, Christmas Vacation, Good Will Hunting
Our take: Home Alone and Christmas Vacation tells us that he's a huge holiday fan, and that is a big bonus. Also those are just damn good movies.
4. Grant
All-time favorite movies: Home Alone, The Bourne Identity, Ninja Turtles (the original one)
Our take: Again, we love anyone who has a soft spot in their heart for Christmas movies. Bourne Identity is kind of a boring choice, but the original Ninja Turtles put him back on our good side. We love a dude who is nostalgic about the good ol' days.
5. Jonathan
All-time favorite movies: Forrest Gump, The 40 Year Old Virgin, Toy Story 3
Our take: If Jonathan loves Toy Story 3 that much, that means he cried during it. And that means he's a REAL MAN.
6. Sal
All-time favorite movies: Jaws, Rocky, Real Steel
Our take: Jaws and Rocky are so-so, but Real Steel?! It's a movie about boxing robots that stars Hugh Jackman! It was a ridiculous cinematic masterpiece and any dude who can admit to loving that cheese-fest is obviously the real deal. Or should we say the Real Steel deal? (See what we did there?)
7. Wells
All-time favorite movies: The Shawshank Redemption, Play Misty for Me, Back to the Future II
Our take: This list is all over the place, and for that very reason we had to put him on our top contenders list. He'll probably keep us guessing, and we bet JoJo will like that.
So out of these frontrunners, who do we think is the big winner? Obviously Derek for choosing Hook, because any dude who loves that film is automatically a very special person.
