Former WWE star Chyna passed away last week at the age of 45, leaving fans saddened and shocked.

After police initially reported the death as a possible overdose, the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office deferred on ruling on the official cause of death for the wrestling legend, noting (per the L.A. Times) that the results of toxicology tests could take months. Her manager, Anthony Anzaldo, tells E! News that Chyna (real name: Joanie Laurer) was indeed taking legally prescribed drugs and may have over-medicated herself in the weeks leading up to her death.

"Once I noticed she was over medicating I knew it was out of my hands," says Anzaldo. "There was no other way than to do an intervention."

Anzaldo, who was shooting a documentary with Chyna at the time of her death, tells E! News he reached out to A&E's Intervention docu-series about a possible intervention. "We were in the process. They [Intervention] were just going to be an extension of the documentary," says Anzaldo; E! News reached out to A&E for comment about potential plans to work with Chyna but did not receive an immediate response. TMZ, who was first to report on this story, has also yet to hear back from A&E.

"I reached out the Intervention [team] because they offered the opportunity to put a professional intervention together in days instead of weeks," Anzaldo tells E! News. "They offered the opportunity for us to get 3 months in a first class facility. Provide a professional interventionist. They provided the tools in the quickest amount of tim...We were going to document an intervention anyway for our own documentary."

Per Anzaldo, Intervention producers "started reaching out to her [Chyna] on Monday but she was already dead." He adds that the former WWE star didn't know she was going to be participating in the show but was aware people were coming in to help her as an extension of the documentary she was filming.

"Her whole life was public," Anzaldo tells E! News.

Chyna was taking Ambien and another legally prescribed drug, says Anzaldo, who reiterates, "the intervention was for the two drugs she was legally prescribed, to get her off of or to change what she was taking."

"Alcohol was a part of her life," says Anzaldo. "She drank for fun. She would binge and she would go months without it. She would self medicate with alcohol when the meds weren't enough. Chyna's manager adds that if she had gone through a 90-day rehab program, her relationship with alcohol would have been something addressed, but it wasn't the primary problem.

"Her overdose was over the course of three weeks," he says.
