Eva Shaw, a former model who's dancing to—and making—her own beats, is here to make your Coachella 2016 experience the best.

The 26-year-old Canadian DJ's music career took off partially thanks to Calvin Harris, who will become the first DJ to play the California music festival as a major headliner this year. The 2016 event begins April 15.

Shaw offered E! News readers planning on attending Coachella some helpful tips.

1. Pack Light: "I would recommend fans to pack light at a festival so you don't have to carry much around," she said. "Just bring necessities and maybe sunglasses and sunscreen. A rain poncho is also a good idea!"

2. Put Away That Phone: "Bring your phone but leave it off until you really need it," she said. "It's hard to get reception sometimes at festivals and you want to save the battery for emergencies. It's more fun if you pay attention to the music and don't film/take pictures the whole time anyway!"

3. Plan Ahead: "Plan your day ahead of time," she said. "Research who you want to see perform and what time and map it out. Nothing worse than missing your favorite act because you got lost. You can try to see specific acts, but sometimes it's just more fun to not stress about it too much. You may find a new artist you love if you check out some new acts you aren't familiar with."

4. Stay Hydrated and Don't Forget to Eat: "Make sure you drink water regularly," she said. "It's easy to forget when you're having fun. It's a good idea to bring a snack, too. Having that protein bar in your bag or pocket can really come in handy."

5. Don't Stress About Your Position: "Don't worry too much where you're standing," she said. "The sound is best close up and in between the speakers, but be flexible because you won't always get to stand there. It's fun to dance in the back with your friends (or with strangers) too!"

Shaw has performed at other music festivals and a slew of other venues all over the world in recent years. You can also check her out playing a DJ in Harris' 2014 music video "Summer."

Shaw met Harris, also known for the past year as Taylor Swift's boyfriend, after she obtained a residency at the Hakkasan nightclub in Las Vegas after it opened in 2013.

"He was also a resident there from the beginning and that's how we met," she told E! News. "He liked my music and we became friends and got along really well. He has always supported me and given me great advice."

Shaw began DJing as a teen, performing at small events in Toronto, before moving to New York to pursue modeling. She modeled for the prestigious Ford agency for two years, appeared in magazines such as GQ and in ads for Neiman Marcus and Aveda while continuing her music passion, setting up a small studio in her apartment.

"Calvin Harris ended up signing my first release on his label and I started to get a lot of shows," she told E! News. "I think that's when I thought I could really make music for a living."

She used to go by the name DJ Bambi but later dropped it. In February, Shaw released her new track "Space Jungle." For an upcoming release, she worked with music producer Jason "Poo Bear" Boyd.

"He wrote the topline and is also singing on it. He wrote Justin Bieber's last Grammy winner "Where Are U Now" with Skrillex and Diplo," she said. "He has done a ton of great music and I'm super happy he wanted to do a song with me. I have a few more super cool features on the way but I can't tell you yet!"

Meanwhile, she is also concentrating on her fashion career, in a different way: Shaw has collaborated with GStar on a new collection, joining the likes of stars such as Pharrell Williams and Afrojack.

"I've been flying over to their headquarters in Amsterdam for the past few months designing with them," she told E! News. "I can't wait for the launch."
