Watch: The Punisher Comes to Life on "Daredevil" Season 2

In season one, Daredevil battled an evil businessman intent on destroying Hell's Kitchen for his own profit, a ninja, more than his fair share of thugs, a very tight black thermal and so much more, but that's nothing compared to season two. Kicking off Friday, March 18, the new season of Marvel's Daredevil on Netflix will introduce not only a boatload of more ninjas, but also antihero Frank Castle (aka The Punisher) and dangerous assassin/ex-girlfriend Elektra Natchios.

What can viewers expect from them? "Violence, sociopathy and temptation," according to showrunner and executive producer Douglas Petrie.

And he's not kidding on either front. Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle is a tortured man with a gun always at the ready. He even shoots up a hospital in attempts to get at one of his chosen targets. But the violence doesn't bother Bernthal. "I don't really look at the violence in a [role], whether to do it or not," he told E! News at the premiere of Marvel's Daredevil season two. "It's whether it's earned, if it comes from a place of truth. That's what matters." For more from Bernthal on the violence associated with The Punisher, click play on the video above.

As for Elodie Yung's Elektra, Matt Murdock's (Charlie Cox) deadly assassin ex-girlfriend, she brings out a new side to Matt and his Daredevil alter ego.

"I often think as human beings we're walking, talking paradoxes. We believe one thing and we simultaneously believe something different. Similarly with the people we're with, we behave a certain way with someone and we behave very differently with someone else," Cox said. "Both of those behaviors are actually very authentic. The most obvious example is...with Matt Murdock when he's with Karen and when he's with Elektra. Those two characters bring out very different Matt Murdocks, both of them true, both of them authentic, but both of them also kind of lies as well. That's one of the things I've enjoyed the most about this season, certainly as an actor playing that. It's like numerous roles."
