Watch: Why Mischa Barton Agreed to Join "DWTS"

Dancing With the Stars' ballroom, here Mischa Barton comes.

The former star of The O.C. was officially announced as one of the ABC reality hit's season 22 cast members on Tuesday, with Artem Chigvintsev as her professional partner. And when E! News' Erin Lim chatted with the duo after the big cast reveal on Good Morning America, Mischa spilled that she's actually been asked to do the show before.

"They've asked me for many years and it just wasn't working with my schedule and it just wasn't the right time," Mischa said. "I just like staying busy and it's fun training and why not? It's a challenge and it's a nice thing to do for a second and see how you do!"

And now that she's finally joined the show, the 30-year-old actress, who can be seen on Freeform's Recovery Road, said she's most excited about "the costumes and the music." Oh yeah, and her often-shirtless partner, Artem.

"I'm excited about Artem being my partner," Mischa told us, before turning to him and asking if he has "a reputation" for not being shy about taking off his shirt on DWTS. His response? "I'm just going to go," the blushing pro said, before pretending to walk away.

Something Artem isn't going to walk away from, however, is holding Mischa to her promise that she would eventually show him scenes of her dancing from some of her movies. Mischa, though, is trying to temper his expectations now, saying, "I keep telling him you get, like, four or five takes at least where this is live!"

DWTS premieres Monday, March 21 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
