She's back!
Last week, Sarah Michelle Gellar revealed she will reprise her role as Kathryn Merteuil in NBC's Cruel Intentions sequel pilot, a follow-up to the cult 1999 movie. On Friday, the day before the film's 17th anniversary, the 38-year-old actress, formerly a blonde, posted pics on Instagram showing her sporting Kathryn's dark brown locks.
"#brownhairdontcare (actually kind of love it!!)" the actress wrote.
The Cruel Intentions sequel follows Kathryn's attempt to control Bash, son of her deceased stepbrother Sebastian Valmont and Annette Hargrove, who Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon played in the film, during his attempt to learn more about his family's legacy at Brighton Preparatory Academy.
On Saturday, Gellar posted a photo of the first page of the Cruel Intentions pilot.
This marks one of several Cruel Intentions follow-ups. In 1999, a prequel series was in the works but never aired. The footage was adapted into the straight-to-video Cruel Intentions 2, which starred Amy Adams as Kathryn. A third movie starring Dawson's Creek star Kerr Smith was released on video in 2004.
