Jimmy Kimmel is spreading rumors.
The late night funny man hosted last night's MusiCares Person of the Year tribute to Lionel Richie.
While introducing John Legend's performance of "Easy Like Sunday Morning," Kimmel said, "He has nine Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, a supermodel wife, a baby on the way, which by the way this is the first you'll be hearing this, he promised to name Lionel—boy or girl."
He kids—although we think Lionel Legend has quite a ring to it.
Legend was just one of many performers for the evening.
Demi Lovato cracked that she only agreed to sing because she's a fan of Richie's daughter, Nicole Richie. "I grew up watching The Simple Life and I just love you," she said about Nicole.
The former reality star sent a video message from backstage at the O2 in London that also included her husband Joel Madden and his brother Benji Madden and his wife Cameron Diaz. Nicole's sister, 17-year-old Sofia Richie, was by her dad's side after making her runway debut during New York Fashion Week.
Rihanna gave a standout performance of "Say You Say Me" and Usher was the first to get the audience on their feet with "Lady." "You really got those white people up and dancing with that one," Kimmel said of the "Scream" singer.
The lineup also included Luke Bryan, Stevie Wonder, Lenny Kravitz, The Band Perry, Florence Welch, Pharrell Williams and Dave Grohl, among others.
The annual festivities benefit MusiCares, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences' financial assistance program for musicians in need.
Past Person of the Year honorees include Bob Dylan, Sir Paul McCartney, Barbra Streisand, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Sir Elton John and Gloria Estefan.
Last night's guest list included Kevin Spacey, Sharon Stone, Rita Wilson, Quincy Jones, Brooke Candy, Diane Warren and David Foster.
