Grant Gustin, star of the CW series The Flash, wants to bring you up to speed on what he really thinks of Ezra Miller, who will play the superhero and alter ego Barry Allen on the big screen.
Since Miller's participation was announced in 2014, reactions have been mixed. Some fans of the franchise have said Gustin, 26, should have gotten the film part instead and may even harbor feelings of jealousy towards the newcomer. Others expressed support for Miller, 23, calling him the superior choice. Gustin had "liked" several favorable tweets about him.
He took to Twitter Thursday to clarify his stance, saying "there are too many people that are saying things about me that aren't true."
"I fully support Ezra Miller as Barry Allen and the Flash on the feature side of DC," he wrote. "I've never met the guy, but I think he is a fantastic and interesting actor. Would I have liked to play Barry Allen in a film? Sure. I love this character and it has changed my life and making movies and tv is something I hope to be fortunate enough to do for the rest of my life."
"I 'liked' some tweets from fans that expressed their support of me and said they would've enjoyed seeing me in the movie," he wrote. "Nothing of anyone 'bashing' Ezra. I don't condone that type of behavior (especially on the Internet) and I definitely don't partake."

Ezra Miller will be a better Flash than Grant Gustin, just wait and watch? Hunter Huff (@huffy_2) January 20, 2016
"But the important thing to remember is just because Grant Gustin plays the part of Barry Allen doesn't mean Ezra Miller can't also play Barry Allen," he added. "There can be different interpretations of the character."
The Flash marks Miller's first superhero role, following parts in films such as The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Trainwreck and TV shows such as Californication and Royal Pains. In addition to starring in The Flash movie, due out in 2018, he is expected to play Allen in Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which hits theaters on March 25, 2016, and in two Justice League movies, set for release in 2017 and 2019.
"I think it's awesome. Yeah, I think it's awesome. And come on, we're the Flash! It's parallel universes!" Miller told MTV News last July, regarding The Flash. "Grant Gustin is the Flash and I'm the Flash, don't you see? It's the event horizon, we crossed it baby! Grant and I are chillin.' We're gonna have a race, it's gonna be dope. Like Jay Garrick and Barry Allen back in the day, it's gonna be dope."
"Hahaha Ezra is hilarious & kind," Gustin had tweeted at the time. "Pumped for him. He's clearly very excited."
The Flash is one of 10 new DC superhero movies Warner Bros. had announced back in October 2014. The first, Suicide Squad, is set for release this August.
"I can't wait to see all of the DC movies that are slated for the upcoming years," Gustin wrote in his latest tweet. "I am a fan and it will be awesome."
