The new Bush residence in Texas (10141 Daria Pl. in the Preston Hollow hood of Dallas) is coming together nicely.

As I commented last week, the quasi-posh pad is located on a surprisingly accessible cul-de-sac, with the neighbors pretty close by, despite the one-acre-plus lots.

I've since been informed by sources close to the deal that the Bushes plan on fixing both of those looky-loo sitches: They're buying the immediate neighbors' houses so as to install Secret Service staffs in them, and they plan on gating the public street. So much for a pathetic attempt at trying to live some sort of humbled post-White House existence.

I knew the whole scheme seemed a little too everyman for a dude who lives to screw with the free world. So much for stopping by unannounced for a near-beer that's really about 12 percent alcohol!
