ABCOwen Hunt's mysterious grudge against Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital's newest doctor has finally been revealed—and it just might be everyone's unraveling.
It wouldn't be a Grey's Anatomy winter finale without some disaster befalling Seattle, so when a raging fire brought wounded first-responders to the hospital, Hunt's mom's younger boyfriend (remember him?) was among them. And her presence in the ER brought to light the big secret: Riggs (Martin Henderson) was married to Hunt's sister. A sister he's never told anyone about.
But the family drama didn't just throw Hunt (Kevin McKidd) into a tailspin. No, his insistence on keeping everything under wraps claimed Meredith and Amelia as victims, too.
By trying to protect Hunt's secret, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) completely shut Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) out—something that led to a massive blow-up between the sisters that won't be so easy to repair. Mer was especially nasty when she reminded Amy, "You are not my sister, Cristina is my sister. You are Derek's sister and Derek is gone." Amy wasn't any kinder with her Widow Grey tirade, and it all ended with Meredith kicking Amelia out of her house.
Not only is it a bummer to see these two ripped apart after how much fun it's been watching them get along this season, but it's especially disheartening to see it send Amy straight to a bar, ordering a vodka tonic. Her sobriety was a hard-fought victory on Private Practice, and she's seemed to be in such control so far, making it even tougher to her hit bottom. Fingers crossed this doesn't completely destroy her.
What exactly happened to Owen's sister, of course, is the big question now. It must've been something awful for Owen to react this way, and Riggs must be the reason for whatever happened. And just like that, we've got until 2016 to wonder exactly how awful it truly is.
Spare Parts:
- The ongoing saga of Jo (Camilla Luddington) and Alex (Justin Chambers) saw her blowing up over how he continually puts Mer first, just before he could propose to her. Ah, so that's what he and Meredith were up to. Did she accept? Naturally, we'll have to wait and see.
- Jackson (Jesse Williams) and April (Sarah Drew) need to make a decision because we shouldn't have to see this same argument ever again.
- Arizona's (Jessica Capshaw) clumsy flirting is so funny. More of that, please. Callie (Sara Ramirez) waxing poetic over break-up sex? Not so. No more, please.
- Will anyone ever eat in that cafeteria again? Our guess is a firm no.
